Turkish Bags and Leather Goods Wholesale: Materials, Samples and Shipping
Super Admin2 min read

Turkey has a long leather tradition and a modern bag industry centred in Istanbul, with tanneries and workshops supplying both fast-fashion and premium brands. Gulf retailers can source handbags, wallets, belts, backpacks and travel goods with short lead times and flexible designs.
Genuine leather or synthetic?
Genuine leather: ask for the animal type, the grade (full-grain, top-grain or split), the tanning method (chrome or vegetable) and the thickness in millimetres.
Synthetic leather (PU or PVC): lower cost and wide colour choice. Ask about the base fabric, coating thickness and resistance to peeling and cracking in heat.
Make sure product descriptions and labels state the material correctly, since misdescribing synthetic as genuine leather can breach consumer rules.
Details that decide quality
Hardware: zips, buckles, chains and magnets, their metal, plating and colour
Lining fabric and internal pockets
Edge finishing: painted, folded or raw
Stitching density and thread strength
Handle and strap attachments, a common failure point
Minimums and design ranges
Many Turkish bag producers sell from collections with low minimums per model and colour, while private-label production with your logo and custom hardware usually needs higher quantities. Ask for both options.
Samples first
Approve a sample for each model and check weight, dimensions, smell, colour, hardware and finishing. For leather, colour can vary between hides, so agree acceptable variation.
Packing to keep the shape
Bags should be stuffed with paper to hold shape, wrapped individually in dust bags or polybags, and packed in cartons that are not overfilled. Ask for silica gel in long sea shipments to prevent mould, especially for genuine leather.
Shipping
Bags are light and bulky, so volumetric weight matters for air freight. For regular orders, sea or road freight is usually more economical. Check if your country restricts products made from certain animal leathers or requires origin documents.
